The key question:
How can I be the bearer of good news today?
We have designed this exercise to help you get to grips with the processes that are involved in the interpretation and use of passages from scripture (or tradition).
We want to help you explore ways in which historical texts can be approached and interpreted as part of the task of reflecting on your lived faith.
This particular exercise is very much a taster. The subject is vast and there are many courses of formal and informal study available if you want to take this kind of work further.
We invite you to start our taster with a look at the story of the Last Supper. We want you to explore what you know about it, or think you know about it, using the study questions we have provided, and then examine some work done on it by a Scripture scholar called Quentin Quesnall. You can go on to draw some conclusions about method and process. You will be able to check out your conclusions with the guidelines we have suggested in the final section - Methods and processes in Scripture study.
